BNP and other fascists defeated in the May elections

Great news at the elections

In last week’s elections, fascist candidates failed to win a seat anywhere in the country. The BNP who stood 130 candidates saw their vote collapse and not only did they fail to gain any seats they also lost all 12 seats they were defending.  Their biggest setback was the failure to regain their seat on the  Greater London Assembly, which was seen as its main target, where they gained only 2.1% of the vote. The one fascist candidate in Staffordshire (an English Democrat) was soundly defeated in the Hawks Green ward of Cannock Chase.

Anti- fascist campaigning

Over the weeks leading up to the election, NorSCARF members leafleted in many of the areas of the West Midlands with fascist candidates, including Cannock Chase, Dudley, Nuneaton, Sandwell and Walsall.  We would like to say thanks to all those who came out to help with the leafleting, even in cold, wet and windy weather.
