Fascist candidates announced for Springfields and Trent Vale by-election

Following the resignation of Sarah Hill, the Labour councillor for the ward of Springfields & Trent Vale, there will be a by-election on Thursday July 26th. Nine candidates will be on the ballot paper and unfortunately two of these are fascist candidates.

The two Far-Right parties standing candidates in the by-election are the British National Party (BNP) and the Democratic Nationalists.

The BNP’s chosen candidate is Stoke BNP leader Michael Coleman. Coleman, who lost his seat on the council last May, was quoted in the Sentinel in 2001 as saying “I certainly am a racist and I don’t apologise for that.”

The candidate standing for the Democratic Nationalists is former BNP councillor Mark Leat. Leat, who left the BNP in 2007, most recently stood for election in the 2011 council elections as a candidate for the Fascist England First Party in the Sandford Hill ward.
