Around 25,000 people went to London on March 16th as part of the global network of UN Anti-Racism Day Demonstrations across the world.
NorSCARF and others from the area went along, with Unite the Union putting on a coach from Stoke and other West Midlands locations. Unions had a large presence, sending out a clear message that ordinary people will always be ready to reject racism, wherever it’s found.
There was a range of speakers outside Downing Street, and the mood was defiant, particularly in response to the New Zealand far right mosque massacre that happened the previous day.
The huge turnout in London, Cardiff, Glasgow, and the rest of the world shows us that those with racist ideas will never win. Ordinary people will always come out to show our opposition. We will always say, NO TO RACISM and NO TO FASCISM, whenever and wherever it appears!
