Nahella Ashraf joins NorSCARF for open meeting – watch here

MARCH AGAINST RACISM | 17 March 2018 – UNISON Southend-on-Sea

NorSCARF’s open meeting in April took place over video call due to the Covid-19 lock down measures.

We were joined by Nahella Ashraf who spoke passionately on the theme of ‘Anti-racism: An Asian woman’s perspective’. Nahella works with Manchester Stand Up To Racism and was a ‘Leading Light’ nominee in the 2020 British Muslims Awards. She spoke on a range of topics, including Prevent, Islamophobia, mental health, integration, austerity, the far right and more.

Nahella was originally meant to join us for a physical meeting in Stoke, but holding an online meeting gave us an opportunity to record her talk, and provide it for wider viewers. We hope that Nahella will come down to Stoke in the future when the time is right, and we thank her for being flexible to support the online meeting. Most of our regular attendees turned up, alongside a few other faces who don’t usually come to meetings. Thanks for coming, and keep your eyes open for more open meetings in the future!

In the meantime, follow our Facebook page and Twitter to keep up to date with what we’re doing.

Here’s the footage of Nahella’s talk;
